Idea

Idea for Radio Drama

My initial idea is to do a drama comedy spoof in the locker room of a sport such as basketball or football. It would be around the time before a major game or after the game reminiscing on it. The spoof would be based around a disagreement between two or multiple players that is about an insignificant problem. For example there could be a back and forth based around a shot that wasn't took or a miss that wasn't a players fault, needless discussion in the end. I've chosen this as I could replicate the sounds you would hear in a locker room suck as; jacket zippers, shoe lace tying, showers, lockers closing, coat hangers clanging, etc.

Genre

The genre I am going to base it off it comedy as I believe I can make it a heated discussion with a comedic relief.

Comedy: types of comedy include slapstick, satire, parody, etc. Comedies like slapstick may not hold up in a non visual radio drama as you cannot piece the audio to a visual as easy and sometimes the joke may be missed. For a five minute radio drama the spoof aspect will last as the tone in voices will successfully convey the jokes and the way they are told.Comedy drama is not very common in radio drama so I am going to attempt to make the characters exaggerate there emotions for comedic effect.

Representation

The drama will take place in a heated (argumentative) locker room with players doing multiple things such as changing clothes, showering, talking. It will not be crowded as all there is are the players.

Narrative

The narrative will follow this sense of redemption of friendship between 3 characters. The characters will attempt to squash this issue they have by apologising but to do so they must bring some food and drink to help regain this team morality. On the way they have a few run ins that cause issues in them getting to the friends house. The feud is finally squashed however from there actions earlier it comes back as a consequence.

Grabbing the audience attention

Unfortunately this drama will be more aimed towards a male audience as there is a higher amount of male football players who could relate. To counter the effect of female listeners turning the radio drama I will include many instances of comedic relief and exaggerated actions. This will allow all listeners to be able to connect with the comedic aspect of it.
